Remote Disc

Apple Remote Disc technology, well tested and proven on the Macbook Air, is available on the Mini Server. Essentially it allows using any network connected Mac with an optical disk drive to act as the optical drive of the Remote Disc equipped machine.

• Allow DVD sharing on the client from System Preferences->Sharing..
  
• Open Finder on the Mini and select Remote Disc on the sidebar to list machines on the network willing to share their optical drives..
  
• Click the listed machine you want to use, then click "Ask to Use". The mini sends a message to that client asking it to OK sharing it's optical drive with the mini..
  
• When the client clicks the Accept button, the optical drive mounts on the mini server just like a locally connected optical drive..
  
• If you were just wanting to read something from an optical disk, drag the disk icon to the trash to eject..
